Within the space of three decades, Eduard Steingraeber built his firm into Bavaria’s largest and most important upright and grand piano maker, a regular recipient of international prizes ever since 1867. And so it remains to this day: international awards, the historic residence of the firm and the Schmidt-Steingraeber family, whose sixth generation now directs the business.

Steingraeber & Sohne has always had the impulse to search for new developments in the construction of world-class instruments. To quote the Le Mode de la Musique magazine regarding Steingraeber’s new E272 concert grand instrument:

	122T	The 122 is ideal for home concerts, study and serious music making. This upright model has been used on the stage of the Bayreuth Festival Theatre for decades. A particularly special feature is its “live” acoustic corner, adding a second area of resonating soundboard providing for colour enrichment and projection in the middle register
	130K	With their most successful upright, you are in effect buying a 160cm (5’3”) baby grand. This model was awarded the ‘world’s best’ prize for upright in the Parisian magazine le Monde De La Musique. It is often preferred by conservatoires over mass-produced studio grands, because it is technically comparable and has superior sound flexibility.
	138K	The 138 is the largest upright piano on the world market and sounds like a six foot grand. With its latest refinements (including the SFM ‘grand feel’ action, this top of the line instrument wants for nothing and was recently named ‘world’s best’ in the Parisian magazine Le Monde De La Musique.
